The pace and success of the banner year continued into the '90's. In February of 1990, Theta helped install the Theta Epsilon chapter at Cumberland College. A few months later, Theta and Upsilon hosted the 1990 North Central District Convention entitled, "Steamin' Around the Bend." To fund the expenses for this convention, the joint chapters began an annual fund-raiser, selling and delivering flowers and mulch. At the District Convention that year, Theta received the Counselor's Cup. This honor was received again in 1991.
At the 1991 National Convention at the University of Maryland, Theta was recognized as one of the Chapter Leadership Award Finalists for the biennium of '89-'91. Theta was given the Leadership Award, the highest honor which can be bestowed on a chapter, making Theta the top chapter in the country. Two years later, at the 1993 National Convention at Purdue University, Theta was recognized again as one of the Chapter Leadership Award Finalists for the biennium of '91-'93.
On October 15, 1994, Theta and Upsilon planned, hosted, and exhibitioned in "Marching Madness," a BOA high school band competition. The very next year, at the 1995 North Central District Convention hosted by Michigan State University, both chapters received the Outstanding Service Award for hosting the event. Also in 1995, Theta and Upsilon were awarded the right to publish the Kadenza, the district newsletter. In 1996, Theta and Upsilon raised money through the annual flower and mulch fund-raiser to buy podiums. In 1997, the proceeds from the fund-raiser were used to buy a clarinet and a piccolo, stands music, and helped to finance the flip folder music system. It also covered the U.C. Bands outstanding balances.
As the decade, century, and millennium came to a close, the Theta chapter continued to strive for success. At the 1999 North Central District Convention at the University of Michigan, the hard work, organization and teamwork from both Theta and Upsilon yielded the right to host the 2000 North Central District Convention. Theta also received a joint award with our sister chapter at Indiana University, and numerous individual academic excellence awards.
