We manage the uniforms for the Bearcat Bands. Uniforms are assigned to each band member. Throughout the season the chapter works 'uniform duties' which involves making sure band members have all parts of the uniform and are dressed properly according to the band's Uniform Code. We fix, maintain, and clean the uniforms during the year as needed.
The service committee heads up all service projects done for the band by the chapter. We do 'band room clean up' days to keep the band facilities clean and organized. We build things that help make the band program better. For example, in the fall we made a white board with music staff lines so that our directors could more easily write music to teach during practices. A project in progress is a guard closet/locker. The color guard members do not have a great storage space for storing flags and other equipment so a design was created for a better and more usable space for them.
We provide meals for different events and trips for the band. There are percussion and guard camps during the summer in addition to our band camp so we provide lunch or snacks for our members on those days. We provide refreshments at the band concerts. We raise funds for organizations within the community or for the band by selling refreshments at events like the percussion teaching clinic held in the spring.
Along with our brothers in the Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, we work career fairs and commencement ceremonies as a group on campus.
Volunteering with organizations within the community help us to branch out our service off campus and stay connected with Cincinnati. We collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and turn those in. We have volunteered at the Bethany House Services several times. We made dinner for the women and children involved with the Bethany House, had a band collection drive for products that would help them out, and worked at a children's carnival over the summer. With more time available during the spring, since uniforms and membership need less priority, we look to do more community service.
