The progress of the organization was rapid, it became recognized and well known on the campus as it was the only musical fraternity at the University of Cincinnati. Its influence in the University Band was keenly felt, due to the caliber of the men chosen for membership. Due to the great amount of work required in the band, at the time under the Co-operative Education System in the Engineering College, the fraternity was of the most vital importance. A great deal of valuable information and numerous suggestions were received by Kappa Kappa Psi chapters at Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University. Profiting by this information, it was decided at the first meeting in February of 1928 to petition Kappa Kappa Psi for the installation of a local chapter at the University of Cincinnati. Francis R. Todd was elected Petitioning Editor and a committee was appointed to draw up a petition. Two pledges, Vernon E. Curran and Rex O. Lobough, were chosen from the band at the Annual Band Banquet held March 6, 1928. These men were initiated April 24, 1928. Professor R. A. Anderegg acted as Faculty Advisor. Harold Best and E. J. Walter, former Band Presidents, were taken in as Honorary members of Delta Mu Sigma. |
