Song Description

Background music for motion pictures became a primary catalyst for the creation of new music during the 20th (and now 21st) century. Along with the traditional venues involving concert, opera and chamber music and even jazz, many great compositional minds during this period have also contributed film scores during their careers -- music written especially to accompany, comment upon and amplify the cinematic experience of watching some movie director's creation unfold on the "silver screen."

This overture-like piece, High Adventure, is intended to resemble a suite of film-score music drawn from an imaginary, as-yet-unshot adventure movie. It borrows from and, hopefully, pays homage to the styles of many composers who have written for such epics. Although the themes themselves are original, listeners may find themselves referencing images or even sounds from movie-going experiences of the past. If this takes place, the composer will have achieved his intent in creating such a work.
