Support Groups of the Bearcat Bands
Effective student leadership is a key ingredient in making the Bearcat Bands function as a
well oiled machine. One of the unique aspects of the band program in Cincinnati is the level
of student leadership opportunities available in the Bearcat Bands. Members of the band have
a chance to get involved in three distinct supporting groups. These support organizations are
Band Council, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Tau Beta Sigma with a brief description of each below.
Band Council
Band Council is made up of six elected positions and five positions appointed by the director of
bands. The elected positions take care of items like member recruiting, band history and
traditions, record keeping, financial management, and the planning of all band sponsored social
events and banquets. Appointed positions take care of tasks such as equipment, instrument, uniform,
band room, and music management.
