|
Don Poynter graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, and was very skilled at what he did. According to a 1947 article in the Cincinnati Times Star, Poynter learned to "twirl the baton" from Eddie Maundrell, a Drum Major at OSU when he was in high school. In 1946, he was ranked 2nd in a national drum major competition in Chicago. Poynter served in a special forces unit of the Army in World War II. At UC, Don was enrolled in the Business School, and gave lessons to aspiring drum majors. |
